I’m an Actor
Growing up in the suburbs of Detroit, I got bit by the acting bug early on. By the time I left to get my B.F.A. in Drama at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, I had performed in over 40 theatrical productions.
Since graduating NYU, I’ve been lucky to work in off-off Broadway and downtown theater, commercials, TV, and film.
I’m a Writer
My start into writing is a bit more embarrassing. I would write "Sarah the Vampire Slayer" fan fiction in my math notebooks during class, wanting to explore my complicated love affair with Spike rather than learn quadratic theory.
Years later, I put those writing skills to use.
In 2013, I created a one-woman show - Mental Nudity - which I performed at Standard Toykraft and the PIT Underground in 2013. My playwriting began soon after, with my plays More (2017) and Implied Consent (2018) produced via Badass Lady Productions. My ten-minute play Crush was featured in the #MeToo Series in late 2018.
I've also written several non-fiction articles for online publications including The Huffington Post, under the pseudonym Grace Kemeny.
I’m a Badass
I'm seeking any way to showcase authenticity, strength, and vulnerability in entertainment. Between my performances, plays, and stunt abilities (thanks to being in A Clockwork Orange a few years back), many of my colleagues deem me a "badass". Go with your type, right?
I run Badass Lady Productions
My first full-length, multi-character play More had its production debut at The Secret Theater's UNFringed Theater Festival the summer of 2017. More was an 85 minute slice of life about addiction, and how it manifests outside of drugs and alcohol. The play was revived in March of 2018 for Emerging Artist Theatre's New Works Series.
My most recently completed play Implied Consent had its world premiere at the Access Theater in October 2018, following a workshop at Playwrights Horizons Downtown. Implied Consent is a time-traveling feminist piece about the “grey area”, without villainizing or victimizing any gender. It received positive reviews and audiences loved it.
Coming up, my play The Regime is Female will run November 1 - 17 at The Tank. It’s a tight sci-fi piece full of punk music, stunts, and the answer to the question: “What if women ruled the world?”
